1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit them. Cookies allow the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as language, font size or other display preferences) for a period of time, so that you do not have to set them again each time you return to the site or move from one page to another.
Cookies may also be used by third parties that provide services to the website, such as analytics tools or embedded maps.
2. Types of cookies
Cookies can be classified according to various criteria:
By the entity that manages them
- First-party cookies: cookies sent to the user's device from a computer or domain managed by the website publisher itself.
- Third-party cookies: cookies sent to the user's device from a computer or domain that is not managed by the publisher but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies (for example, Google).
By purpose
- Technical cookies: allow the user to browse the website and use its basic functions (for example, access to secure areas, forms, etc.). Without these cookies, the website cannot work properly.
- Preference or personalisation cookies: remember the user's preferences in order to personalise the browsing experience (language, region, browser type, etc.).
- Analytics or measurement cookies: allow the website owner to track and analyse user behaviour. They are used to measure website activity and build browsing profiles in order to improve the service.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: store information about user behaviour in order to show personalised advertising based on browsing habits.
By how long they remain active
- Session cookies: deleted automatically when the user closes the browser.
- Persistent cookies: remain stored on the user's device for a period defined by the party responsible for the cookie, which may range from a few minutes to several years.

4. Legal basis for processing
In accordance with Ley 34/2002, de 11 de julio, de Servicios de la Sociedad de la Información y de Comercio Electrónico (LSSI-CE, Spain's Information Society Services and E-commerce Act), Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the Guide on the use of cookies published by the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD, the Spanish Data Protection Agency), the legal basis for the use of cookies is as follows:
- Technical cookies: exempt from consent because they are strictly necessary to provide the service requested by the user (Article 22.2 LSSI-CE).
